Electric heating with fan coil and fan heater.

A fan coil is primarily a comfort-oriented and building-integrated heating system. It is designed to provide consistent and controlled heat distribution throughout a room or an entire building, often connected to thermostats or central management systems. This makes it well-suited for offices, hotels, and other commercial or residential environments where both efficiency and comfort are important.

A fan heater, on the other hand, is a fast and powerful spot-heating solution. It delivers a high amount of heat quickly, making it ideal for large, cold spaces such as warehouses, workshops, and garages. While it is less focused on comfort and precision, its strength lies in rapid heating and simplicity of installation and use.

Fan coil units:

  • Air heating units that blow warm air through electric heating elements or hydronic systems (here: electric).
  • Advantage: Quick response, easy installation, suitable for large open areas.

  • Commonly used in office buildings, hotels, or larger commercial buildings where adjustable and more comfortable heat distribution is desired.

Fan heaters:

  • Powerful electric fans that provide rapid heating of large rooms, typically in workshops and warehouses.
  • Disadvantage: High power consumption during continuous operation, especially in poorly insulated buildings.

  • Less focus on comfort, more on rapid heating.
